Pinnacle Dermatology is excited to offer our patients GentleCure (Image-Guided SRT), a non-invasive treatment that uses X-ray energy to kill cancer cells. IG-SRT is given in small doses over a period of several weeks, and it is highly effective at eradicating both basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers. It is also the most successful treatment for keloids when administered within 24 hours of surgical removal.

For patients with non-melanoma skin cancer. IG-SRT is given 3-4 times per week over a period of 5-7 weeks. It destroys skin cancer cells without cutting or surgical scarring, and allows the patient to continue with normal daily activities throughout the course of treatment.

Prior to beginning the treatment process, you will come in for a Simulation visit, where you will meet with Dr. Spurlin, our Board-Certified Dermatologist, and Beth Ann, our Board-Certified Radiation Therapist. At this appointment, a high-resolution ultrasound will be performed to determine the lesion’s depth. Dr. Spurlin who will draw a margin around your skin cancer, which will define the area to be included in the treatment field. Beth Ann will then make a custom shield that will block the radiation from reaching anything outside of the designated treatment area. This is also a great time for you to ask any questions you may have about the treatment process.
